Our staff is on the journey with you

Howard Wagler

Howard Wagler, Lead Pastor

Howard was raised in southern Indiana on a crop and dairy farm.  After 20 successful years in the family business, he felt the call of God on his life to serve Him in a different way, and the Wagler family moved to Kansas in August of 1990 so Howard could enroll in the Hesston College Pastoral Ministries Program.  After graduating from Hesston College, we called Howard to become our pastor; a position he has held since 1992.

Howard enjoys music, biking, running, and spending time with family while staying connected to the community through antique tractor pulling and motorcycling.  Howard & Cathy have three grown children and five grandchildren.

He and his wife, Karmen, moved to Kansas in 2005 and Eric joined the pastoral staff at Journey in 2007, following his graduation from Hesston College’s Pastoral Ministry Program. After serving as an Associate Pastor for 5 years, he became the South Hutchinson Campus Pastor in January of 2013.
Eric & Karmen now have three little Kansans in their home: Brinna, Eden & Grayson and have fallen in love with life in Reno County. Eric is an adventure junkie and can usually be talked into anything that involves a physical challenge. He enjoys exercise of all kinds, good coffee, reading, playing with his kids, and traveling to arm wrestling tournaments throughout the region.

Zach Batson, Worship Pastor

Zach holds a great excitement and vision for growth in the church and outreach in the community. He started attending Journey in the fall of 2013 and has felt his love and calling in the church steadily grow since. He is excited about his future growth and education while working as a bi-vocational pastor @JourneyMcPherson. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in Construction Science and Management and uses that education as he owns and operates Batson Construction doing subcontract carpentry work throughout the area.
