Serve with Passion.

Joining God’s mission to extend love, forgiveness, and compassion to the world

As Followers of Christ, we are the physical presence of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit to be broken and poured out for the needs of the world.  We have the greatest impact when we are giving God the best of the time, resources, and abilities he has given us.

Serve Projects

Throughout the year God brings us ways we can serve our community. We’ve worked on projects with Interfaith Housing, served with other churches painting drain inlets for the city, helped people move and lots more. Please sign up for our email list to receive updates on serve opportunities.

Advent Conspiracy

The past few years, Journey has celebrated the Advent season in a different way. Advent Conspiracy has helped us to concentrate on fulfilling Christ’s mission instead of a commercialized Christmas season.

In 2008 we bought one less gift, raising $35,000 to dig 4 water wells in Sudan.

2009?s “Afghanistan Challenge” challenged us to eat rice and beans for 2 meals a week and raised $30,000 for micro-finance loans to women in Afghanistan to start their own businesses.

2010 found us bringing the serving closer to home with “The Hope Project”. We were encouraged to be creative to come up with ways to save money during the Christmas season to raise $73,000 to refurbish a house (in partnership with Interfaith Housing Services) for a low-income 1st time home-buyer. The Hope Project house is complete and a single mother and her children have a home to call their own!

2011?s Advent Conspiracy reached across the hemisphere to Bolivia. The congregation was again encouraged to be creative in spending less to give more to support “Ninos de Samuelito” (Children of Samuelito). We surpassed our goal and raised $56,618 to support more than 80 children for a year at Samuelito Daycare in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The surplus went to help send our teams to Bolivia this spring and summer and to several local charities.

In 2012, we worked with 3 other churches (Crossroads Christian, The Father’s House and Salt City Family Church) on The NOEL Project to renovate a building to house New Beginnings Overflow Emergency Lodging.

2013’s Advent Conspiracy was to find Big Brothers and Big Sisters for the BBBS organization and provide monetary support to the organization.
2014 Advent Conspiracy was  Bone Marrow,  Blood Drive,  Organ donation – Jodi – We need to encourage “live” donations for kidneys –  Jerry Willems was a donor and would be willing to share about it.  It is actually a much easier surgery these days, Living donations, Locks of Love,
2015 – We invite you to
Reclaim Christmas – Worship fully, spend less, give more, love all.  Give to an organization of your choice.
